101:1

اَلْقَارِعَةُۙ The calamity!

مَا الْقَارِعَةُۚ What is the Calamity?

وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ And what will make thee know
مَا الْقَارِعَةُؕ how terrible is the calamity?

And what will make thee know how terrible is the calamity?
101:4

يَوْمَ The day
يَكُوْنُ النَّاسُ wherein men will
كَالْفَرَاشِ be as moths
الْمَبْثُوْثِۙ scattered,

The day wherein men will be as scattered moths,
101:5
Play Translation
وَ تَكُوْنُ الْجِبَالُ And the mountains will
كَالْعِهْنِ be as wool
الْمَنْفُوْشِؕ (carded).

And the mountains will be as carded wool.
101:6

فَاَمَّا مَنْ Then as for him whose
ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِيْنُهٗۙ measure (of good deeds) is heavy,

Then as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is heavy,
101:7
Play Translation
فَهُوَ فِيْ عِيْشَةٍ He will live a
رَّاضِيَةٍؕ a pleasant life.

He will live a pleasant life.
101:8
Play Translation
وَ اَمَّا مَنْ And as for him
خَفَّتْ whose measure (of good deeds)
مَوَازِيْنُهٗۙ is light,

And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light,
101:9
Play Translation
فَاُمُّهٗ A mother to him is
هَاوِيَةٌؕ The abyss

The abyss is a mother to him.
101:10
Play Translation
وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ And what will make thee know
مَاهِيَهْؕ what that is?

And what will make thee know what that is?
101:11
Play Translation
نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ A burning Fire.
